A person either loses his legs or becomes paralyzed. He makes a deal with either the Devil, demonic forces, or something of a magical nature. He enters into an arrangement. He gets to walk again, but every so often (possibly once a day) he must perform a ritual dance. Otherwise, he loses the ability to walk.
However, anyone that happens to witness this dance comes under the effect of some serious negative consequence. Either they die, or are driven mad, etc. The dancer is either unaware of this effect or knows and can't help it.
