Positional Clubfoot

mardi 4 novembre 2014

My son, who is three, was born with positional club foot. We corrected with the Ponseti Method, and he wore the Dobbs Bar ALL the time until he was one then our Ortho doctor told us we could switch to just at night. Our little one got too used to being out of it, so it was hard to stay compliant. We were compliant more often than not until he was 2 then it just got too hard. We've been less and less compliant until we are now non-compliant and we have been non compliant for almost a year.

My son's foot looks amazing. He runs, he jumps, he jumps off things, he never complains of pain, and the only time his foot takes on an inverted position is when he's doing it on purpose. He's even stopped scrunching up his toes when he walks which was our number one concern. I'm making a follow-up appointment with our Ortho doctor in the morning, but I just want to get a feel for what to expect from other parents who are going through this. Parents who quit being compliant, did the clubfoot return, or is your child still fine?
