Hi, In 1986, I had a severe accident where I was hit by a car. I arrived at the hospital VSA or DOA and was resuscitated. I had many injuries including an open-book pelvic fracture and lower lumbar nerve root damage where I have no sensation on the back of my right buttock and all the way down my right leg and onto the right side only of my right foot. I have no plantar flexion in my right foot and cannot go up on my right toes. My right buttock and right leg calf have atrophied significantly. I walk on my right heel although the left side of my buttocks and my left leg and left foot are normal. The lack of sensation is ONLY on my right buttock, right leg and right foot.
Not often, maybe 3 to 5 times a year, I get EXTREME intense hot electric like pain along the edge of the right side of my right foot (if I am standing, the pain is located just above where the foot meets the floor, running about 3 inches along the side of my foot) BETWEEN my baby toe and ankle. Normally, this exact area is numb and I have little sensation there. My toes and ankle are NOT affected. The pain has an extreme burning sensation and comes on very quickly and subsides very quickly. It lasts about 3 to 6 seconds. It is torture, like someone is putting a live, highly charged electric wire on the side of my right foot. My arch in the right foot is very very high and my big toe is not straight but curled down like a hammer head. My other toes also curl under somewhat. I walk with a limp. Can anyone help me as to what causes the pain and how can I get it to stop. I often will holler with the pain and my whole body tightens up. Blessings to all and thank you. H.
