We have a client that sends a literal & in the IN1.4 field in their HL7 feed. When this data element is picked up it causes a code error and fills the payer value in SQL with a long line of code from Mirth. What is the best approach to allowing this to be passed and parsed as a literal value? We do not want it replaced with anything as the payer names in our SQL tables include the & so it's needed for matching purposes.
How Do I Accept Literal Ampersands in the IN1 Segment?
