Hello. For the past 4 days I have been experiencing sharp pain in my foot when walking. I have not injured my foot in anyway that I can think of. I woke up on the first day with pain under my foot which gradually got worse to the point I couldn't put weight on it. The next day I walked to work and noticed I had bruising and redness over the ankle bone and just under it, the pain felt like it was coming from the sole of my foot, along the outer side near to the heel. The next day on getting out of bed it was agony. I looked and the bruising and redness had spread over half the top of my foot- no bruising undeneath. I went to a&e and was told I have plantar fasciitis however she couldn't understand the bruising, swelling and warmth over the top of my foot.
I have been taking painkillers and icing my foot for the passed 2 days. When I walk the pain actually gets worse and not better the more steps I take whereas I've read with plantar fasciitis it gets better? It doesn't hurt to touch, just when I put weight on it. When I have taken a mix of about 8 painkillers and NSAIDs, the pain is very mild but when these start to wear off I can feel the pain at the top of my foot around the ankle.
Does anyone agree this is just plantar fasciitis? Any ideas on how long I should rest this? I haven't been to work as I have to walk part of the way and don't think I would make it at the moment. Thanks
