Our site specific provider IDs go out in ORU messages in OBR16.1
Our NPI numbers for the same provider comes out in OBR16.9
We also don't have NPI numbers for all providers so OBR16.9 could be blank at times but not all the time. At all times the site specific ID is present so OBR16.1 is populated.
Anyone tried to write some logic to replace OBR16.1 with the value from 16.9 if it exists but not modify it if the value is blank. Of course this would apply to any new fields.

Replacing value only if it does exist.
