Redeploying channel with Queued Messages

vendredi 5 septembre 2014

Couple simple questions and my search skills probably suck cause I couldn't find answers. Previously I didn't have a need for using the queue features available to destinations, until recently. Basically I just want to confirm what happens to messages that are queued for a channel, when I pause/stop/start/redeploy a channel.

- Messages in the queue prior to stopping/redeploying a channel will still get processed as usual, right? Order sometimes doesn't matter to me, just want ensure whatever is in the queue gets processed.

- Is there a limit to how big the queue size can be? If for some odd reason my queue were to grow to 1000-2000 that wouldn't be a problem, right?

- If a destination is to a web service, and if the service was down causing a timeout, that's considered as an "Error" and would cause the message to go back into the queue, right?

- When a messages are in a rotating queue (e.g. #1, #2, #3, #4), where does a new message coming into a channel fit in the queue? I saw some info on this but want to clarify. If say #2 is in process and message #5 comes in via channel reader, would it be dropped between #2 and #3, or at the end of the queue (e.g. following #4)?
